Benicia Peddlers’ Fair

Benicia, Calif. - Benicia’s downtown will be transformed into an exciting street fair  when the 54th Annual Peddlers’ Fair opens on Saturday, August 12 at 8 a.m. Begun in 1963, with a few collectible and antique stores displaying their items on tables outside St. Paul's Church, The Fair has grown to attract thousands of people each year to Benicia’s historic First Street, and runs until 5 p.m..   Over 300 vendors from across the country, with thousands of items, including antiques, collectibles, vintage and hand-craft items, will begin streaming into the downtown area at 2 a.m. Saturday to set up their booths.  The fair spans the length of First Street in Historic Benicia, and showcases beautiful views of the Carquinez Strait. The show offers connoisseurs and new collectors alike an opportunity to examine and purchase items that include period furniture, decorative antiques, vintage textiles and fashion, pottery, porcelain, pink and blue depression glass, paintings, prints, jewelry, clocks, watches and much more! Local non-profit groups and food vendors will sell food at various booths throughout the fair. First Street restaurants will also be open for business, as well as many other shops along the street. While walking through the fair, watch for Steve Yvaska, noted Bay Area journalist who will be offering appraisals, one free appraisal per person, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  And don't forget to stop by the Kids' Art Corner, too! The Benicia Peddler’s Fair is sponsored by St. Paul’s Historic Trust, which was organized in 1970 for the purpose of raising money to preserve the historic California landmark church.  Volunteers from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be giving tours of the church throughout the day.   A percent of the fair proceeds are donated back to the community of Benicia for various outreach programs.  Sponsored by St. Paul’s Historic Trust, 120 East J Street, Benicia CA 94510.
